That was one thing that always bothered me about the movie - Why did he only use the left-hand made bruises on her face? Why didn't he also comment on the fact that Mr. Heck Tate said "The bruises around her throat clearly showed that Mayella was choked by a man with two good hands?

It also bothers me that Atticus, the paragon of virtue, was very sexist. I still get angry reading the little talk between him and Jem where they imagine how the presence of a woman on a jury would only be a waste of the court's time, and that the women would be too disruptive and also that they might be too "delicate" to hear or see certain things. Then they laugh and make fun of Miss Maudie and the late Mrs. Dubose.

I disagree. This is an amazing book and if you don't look at it that way then that small part about the women in a courtroom will just be a little joke. This article got me mad, because yes it is kind of true however I don't like seeing it that way.

what a fun day in class! it was great to see people act out major scenes from the chapters and hear the class discuss various points from the story. i do not enjoy acting but it was still a good time and it helped me recall what happened in each chapter a little more clearly.
