English 101 Summer 2010 Day 11

    1. Read TKAM Chapters 10-11for Tuesday.
    2. Complete Study Guide Chapters 1-11 for Tuesday (26 pts).
    1. How to score this essay.
    2. H/I Final Drafts

    3. Essays back in about a week.
      1. At the end of the quarter, you will have the chance to revise either your first or your second essay for an improved score.
    4. An introduction to To Kill a Mockingbird
    5. Essay 2
      1. Explain the steps (the call, the mentors, the threshold etc) in the hero's journey for Scout (or Jem or Atticus?).
      2. 3-5 pages, double spaced.
      3. Rough Draft due July 21st
      4. Final Draft due July 26th.

Am i the only one having trouble picking out the heroes journey for scout. this was really well written almost to well to pick out the journey . I see scout growing up but i can't put my finger on the call.

I agree with you, Steve, it is not as obvious as in "Smoke Signals"; I think it is much more spread out and underlying. I still have much more reading to do before I can put my finger on it!
I appreciate how Mr. Peters keeps the class involved with discussion, ideas on boards, etc. Maybe I'm just happy to be back at school (its been a long time), but it seems he does a pretty good job.
